7 Big Companies - How Got Their Names?

In our daily life, we come across names of different big companies. But have you ever tried to notice that how these companies got their names? what is the logic and inspiration behind these names?
here is the list of 7 big companies that how they got their names?



1- Pepsi:

You will be surprised that the name Pepsi is derived from a digestive enzyme, called "pepsin". Actually Pepsi was invented by Caleb Davis Bradham who was a pharmacist. Initially he invented it as a drink that aids digestion like pepsin enzyme.

2- Nokia:

Would you believe that initially Nokia started its business as a wood pulp mill !! This mill was established outside the Finnish town of Nokia. From there they got the name Nokia.
Now, Nokia is the second largest vendor of mobile phones with respect to unit sales.

3-Ebay:

Ebay is owned by Echo bay Technology

Basically, eBay is owned by "Echo Bay Technology" group. Founders decided the name "echobay" for the website. But the URL was already taken by a mining company. So, they shortened it to eBay.

4-Coca cola:

Coca-Cola! originally, was invented as a patent medicine. The name Coca-Cola is derived from two words Coca and Cola. Coca means "leaves" and Cola means "nuts". Both were the original ingredients of Coke.

5- Sony:

The name SONY is derived from a Latin word "sonus" witch means "sound". They choose the name because it is very easy to pronounce in most languages.

6-Adidas:

Basically Adidas was the nick name of the founder, Adolf Adi Dassler. So, it is how the name appeared.

7-Lego:

Lego is a popular company witch is involved in manufacturing of construction toys. The name Lego was derived from a Danish phrase, witch means "play well".
